I was discovered in college by Playboy photographer David Chan. He was scouting for girls for the "Girls of the SEC" pictorial for 1981. I was one of five girls selected. At that time, I was only 17 years old. I graduated one year early from high school and David just assumed I was 18. He discovered I wasn't when the shoot was over and the crew wanted to go out for a drink. I told him I didn't drink cause I wasn't legal yet. I had to get a guardian to sign for me to pose, but it worked out because I turned 18 before the pictures were printed. I was only topless in that first pictorial,but it caused quite a stir in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I lost my student working job for the State Department of Revenue and decided I wanted to be a Playmate. I wasn't confident enough at that time to pose fully nude, but kept in touch with David Chan and tested two years later. I moved to Chicago and immediately became a Playmate. In fact, I shot my gatefold in only one day! I was sick with a cold, my eyes were watery and I had a fever. If you look closely at my centerfold you can see the watery eyes. We called it a day and they sent me home. I was told a few days later that Hef saw my gatefold and approved it! I was Miss June 1985. I guess it was fate.
Q: Did you do Playboy before you won Star Search?
Playboy launched my career as a model. I had never been in front of a camera and had no idea I was photogenic. I was an Elite Model in Chicago when Star Search was looking for spokesmodels for the hit TV show. I was one of two models selected from Chicago to compete for the $100,000.00 prize. I was so excited just to be selected, but disappointed that it conflicted with my Playboy obligations at that time. I sent flowers to the producers hoping they'd keep me in mind for the next season. I ended up on the show at the end of the 3rd season and went on to win the grand prize. I never lost on that show, it was like a dream come true! Playboy was so proud that they featured me again with a cover as a celebrity and another pictorial. That was the last time I worked for them. It's been 15 years and I'm so happy to be in front of the camera again!
Q: What projects are you doing now?
Artist Olivia is painting me, I'm producing my own Playboy style video and getting ready for the release of my coffee table book "Living in a Blonde World".
I'm also launching my own perfume and beauty products.
