OBIE TRICE - real name, no gimmicks. One sentence, But it really says it all. Rapping under his government name, Obie Trice, is the real deal, no frills, no filler. Just skills and personality. Obie, whose career jumped off in the same Detroit neighborhoods and underground scene that had birthed Eminem, was quick to keep his attention once they met. "I'm basically a real laid back type of dude," says Trice of his first meeting with Em, "But I'm really about my music, so we got along great from the jump." Em was so impressed with Obie's work ethic, and felt so strongly that he fit the Shady roster, that he rushed production on a Obie freestyle skit which was added to D-12's double platinum '01 Debut 'Devil's Night.' He has been rapping for over 12years since he was the age of 11. His musical influences as he was growing up included such artists as Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Rakim and Redman.

Working with legendary producers like Timbaland and Dr. Dre, and the Shady one himself, Obie quickly knocked out a slew of tracks. Obie's offbeat but respectable rhyme style was a perfect fit for Em's curious, but nonetheless g'd up beat selection. "Once me and Em really got into the studio together," says Trice, "It just became clear that we should do most of the record together." Obie Trice's 'Cheers' promises exactly the same thing as his name: No gimmicks! Recognize.

The album is executive produced by Eminem and has guest production by Dr. Dre and Timbaland.

The Obie Trice debut album was produced by Eminem and will be released by Shady Records in October. He was granted the ultimate in pre-promotion and branding when Eminem stated at the start of 'Without Me' "Obie Trice - real name, no gimmicks".

Obie appeared in '8 Mile' is one of the rap sequences and also performed the track 'Love Me' on the soundtrack album with Eminem and 50 Cent.

Eminem and his protege, Obie Trice have come up with a contest for Trice's upcoming debut, 'Cheers' -
The duo have decided to include golden ticket inserts into three of the first 500,000 copies of Trice's debut CD. The three lucky fans who purchase the CDs with the golden tickets will get an all expenses paid trip to Detroit to hang in the studio with Eminem while he works on his new album. Eminem, who is notorious for his closed recording sessions and carefully guarded music and lyrics, commented: "We were working on this album and trying to come up with the craziest idea possible to help promote it. Obie said 'Let the fans meet you, that's what they want.' So we came up with this contest, and hopefully it will make everyone know the album is out." "Everybody's always doing the same shit with their records, says Obie Trice. 'Buy my album, get a DVD, get a free poster, get a piece of my toilet seat''fuck all that shit. We wanted to come with the hottest, 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' type shit for a contest. When I was a kid I would have given a nut to win something like this."
