Another Thought Process Edition
He says, She says...!

Warning…You may not like or agree with some of the things you read in this article!
This is a venting session. Or to quote Jay-Z a little, “This ain’t a diss article, just a real article.”

I’m really into doing things for a purpose. You know what I mean. If you’re not doing it for a cause other than money, you’ll half ass do it. (Excuse my language).

For instance, I don’t want a doctor who is just in it for the money. He’s not going to see to it that I have the best care. Not if I don’t have insurance to pay for his services! He’ll prescribe me what I can afford, and send me home to die. Well, that’s not acceptable!

I look at the state of Hip Hop, I get frustrated. Because, I just see paper chasers. There’s no meaning behind most of what’s selling, because there doesn’t have to be to sell. Ask Mims, you can make a mil saying nothing on a track. But is that cool? To give the people whatever, just because they will accept it.

Remember when interviewers use to ask artist questions like, “Tell me more about Welcome to the Terror Dome? You will look like a fool asking Rich Boy “Throw some D’s on it? What’s that all about? How did you come up with the idea for that song?”

I don’t know. Maybe I’m being too hard on artist today. After all Jay-Z Said:

I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars
They criticized me for it yet they all yell "HOLLA!"
If skills sold, truth be told, I'd probably be
Lyrically, Talib Kweli
Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense
But I did five mill' - I ain't been rhymin like Common since
When your cents got that much in common
And you been hustlin since, your inception
F$%k perception go with what makes sense
Since I know what I'm up against
We as rappers must decide what's most impor-tant
And I can't help the poor if I'm one of them
So I got rich and gave back, to me that's the win/win

So, I need to chill right? After all these brothers are just trying to make a living. Aren’t they? A lot of them are rushing in the game so quick, that they forget to read their contracts! End up making more of a fool of themselves then a living. But the record execs get theirs, though. And it just becomes a vicious cycle. Cause youngster’s see them on MTV Cribs, checking out their crib, clothing, chains, and rides. And thinking, that’s going to be me one day. Not knowing that they don’t own any of that! (Well, some of them)

So what you saying? That I’m wrong for demanding more from an artist than just something to club to? Don’t get me wrong, I like to dance. But I’m tired of leaning! And I’m from the South! I need a good mixture of Hip Hop. A little Lil Jon, a little Common Sense, A little 50 Cent, a little Jay-Z, a little OutKast… you feel me.

And while I’m griping, I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of hearing rappers rap about all the stuff they got! Believe me, I am glad for you. But half that stuff, I don’t even know what it is you’re talking about. So you might as well not even say it. It’s like when somebody asks you, “Do you know Rodney?” And you say, “Naw, but what happen to him.” And they tell you what happened, but you can’t appreciate the story, because you don’t know Rodney. Same thing! Don’t know what a VVS Stone looks like. If Jay-Z hadn’t told me that Scooby Doo’s were shoes, I wouldn’t have known. Manolos, Manolo’s me no no’s I can’t tell! And, I know a lot of people like to front! So I’m not going to speak for everybody, just myself. I don’t know where to go to buy Manolo’s. I even had to look up the spelling! (And the price is running neck and neck with my part of the rent!)

Flaunting your worth is disrespectful. I mean think about somebody who can’t go to the dentist, because they don’t have a dental plan. And you got some rappers talking about 100 thousand dollar grillz that they put on top of teeth! Tell me, how long would you stay around your homeboy or home girl that told you the cost of everything they were wearing their head to there feet! Not long.

While I’m at it, it makes me mad that I can’t watch a video, without a half naked lady appearing out of nowhere! Most of the time, they have no purpose. Their just there! I know men like to gawk and drool over a chick shaking her tail, But I’m just saying, if the song is about a naked chick shaking her butt…Then she got a right to be in the video. If the song is about your beat down low and your top let back…why she there Ike!

And don’t expect me to buy an album after you have release every song off of it! Or an album that only has 2 good songs out of 15! (Do the math, that’s only13%. Which is an F! Which means you failed, and now you have to repeat the course!)

Am I hating? Well, I ain’t got to like it! I’m just saying; stop falling for the oke doke.

Stop bumping stuff just because a radio DJ says it’s hot. Stop buying shoes and clothing because a rap artist endorses it. Stop killing yourself on diets just to look like a video girl. Don’t fall into the trap of what the world says is IT! Don’t get all ticked off because I am! Do what you do because that’s what you do! And how I got on this I don’t know, but go with it. I told you, I’m venting!!!
