The Inside Scoop on this week in Hip Hop.

From rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z being sued for trademark infringement, to Foxy Brown being summoned for violating her probation and Young Jeezy not to mention, Lil Wayne both bellowing blasphemous statements about rap pioneers Jay-Z and Nas. This week’s rundown proves to be not only informative but a bit tragic also. But enough of the introduction, let’s just get straight to it shall we??

Looks like Mr. Diva, also knows as Kanye West, has stumbled upon a lawsuit with the legendary daredevil veteran 68-year old Evel Knievel. The lawsuit claims that West, along with Roc-A-Fella Records and video director, Chris Milk infringed on Knievel’s trademark-protected name and image by depicting West as a stunt performer named “Evel Kanyevel.” You all may remember in the video, Kanye was dressed in a “V” striped white jumpsuit just like the one Knievel is famous for wearing, attempting to blast off in a rocket – powered vehicle very similar to the Skycycle that Knievel rode in his failed yet famous jump over the Snake River Canyon in 1974. The suit also cites the quarrel that takes place between two
black women over West dating a white woman as “vulgar and offensive sexual images, language and conduct
involving ‘Evel Kanyevel’ and women apparently trying to gain his sexual interest.” “The guy just went too far using me to promote his filth to the world,” said Knievel. “I am in no way that kind of a person.” According to the lawsuit, Knievel
first registered his name as a trademark in 2001 and the sales of toys and other merchandise bearing his name and likeness have grossed over $300 million. Knievel seeks damages and a halt on distribution of the video.

Not only is Kanye preparing to fight a lawsuit. News has it that rap mogul Sean “Jay-Z” Carter is being sued for the use of his hand gesture – the Diamond Cutter – as his own by Wrestler Diamond Dallas Page. The lawsuit, which was filed in Los Angeles on December 2, 2005, accuses Jay-Z, Roc-a-Fella Records and the Rocawear clothing line of trademark and copyright infringement, as well as “misappropriation” of the hand symbol. Page claims to have started using the hand sign to promote his image in 1996, while working for World Championship Wrestling. He eventually moved on from wrestling to pursue other business ventures, including but not
limited to a DVD series and book and his soon to be released audio book titled, Own Your Life, all of which featured his ever-so-popular diamond trademark symbol. The wrestler is seeking an injunction (in other words, prohibiting Jay-Z from using the gesture) and unspecified monetary damages. Wow, everyone wants to sue Roc-a-Fella Records, who’s next? The Rock as in the
wrestler turned actor??

Guess who’s bizzack?? None other than the Foxy “Ill Na Na” Brown herself! This time it isn’t for any attacks or temper tantrums, she was surprisingly summoned to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday, Dec.11, after being accused to violating her probation stemming from a fight in a nail salon more than two years ago. Brown was sentenced to 3 years probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor assault charges back in October of this year. Her violation charges came after she was accused of failing to keep appointments with probation officers, appear for anger management
classes and submit to drug tests. Apparently she demanded “special treatment” from her probation officers and was quoted stating that her “safety was in jeopardy” after she refused to sit in a downtown Brooklyn probation office with “all kind of criminals.” You’ve got to be kidding me Foxy, Ms. “I grew up in the thoroughest borough, BK” I thought you had the streets on lock! The modest approach doesn’t fit you, better luck on the next attempt.

In an unfortunate accident that occurred on Monday, Dec. 11 in Metairie, LA, Tamara Williams, sister of rapper Bryan “Baby” Williams, of Cash Money Records, was killed in a car crash. She was pronounced dead on the scene after a motorist driving in the wrong direction struck her vehicle in a head on collision. The motorist, Jason Williams, was taken to the Charity Trauma Center in Elmwood where he was in critical condition. Tamara, 26, was the youngest of six siblings and is survived by her husband and three sons. Our prayers go out to Baby and his loved ones.

In case you haven’t already heard, Sean Carter part II thinks he’s better than Jay-Z, well at least in his eyes. In the new issue of Complex Magazine which features Cash Money Records president, Lil’ Wayne and Travis Barker, the Louisiana rapper had some blasphemous comments to say about Def Jam’s president. It starts off a little like this, “I don’t like what he’s saying about how he had to come back because hip-hop’s dead and we need him. What the f**k do you mean? If anything it’s reborn, so he’s probably having a problem with that. You left on a good note and all of the artists were saying, ‘yo, this is Jay’s house. He’s the best.’ Now he comes back and still thinks
it’s his house…..It’s not your house anymore, and I’m better than you.” Is he serious?? Sounds more like he’s threatened that Jay is back. This is coming from the same dude who kissed another man on the lips claiming it to be on some mafia crap. Why all the hate? Aren’t you eating as well as the others?

And that about sums up this week’s rundown on what’s what in hip-hop.
A bit tragic don’t you think? You’ve read about two Southern rappers going ballistic, a death in a rapper’s family, a female rapper who can't get it right and two of our most talented MC’s being sued for trademark issues. Maybe next time we’ll have some happy stories,

Until next week, this is ya girl Miss Hinds…..I’m out! HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
