HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! 2007 is supposed to be a time to recollect your thoughts and put change into action. For some, the New Year usually begins on a good note and for others it marks the beginning of what could be a “not so good” year. For the following celebrities, 2007 seemed to have hit them on the “not so good” side of life.….

R&B singer / Rapper / Actor Tyrese “Black-Ty” Gibson is on the run
after allegedly attacking his 3-month pregnant girlfriend. According to the police, the couple got into a heated argument around 5:30 AM inside of their Los Angeles home. Before the paramedics arrived, Tyrese sped off from the scene. He’s apparently missed a radio show appearance this morning also. He was scheduled to call into Sacramento’s KSFM 102.5 morning show to talk about his upcoming Transformers movie but he never did. According to his sources, he’s “M.I.A.” Well yea, apparently!!! Very, very disappointing!

Busta Rhymes was arrested and detained after he assaulted one of his drivers the day after Christmas. According to the police complaint Eddie Hatchett, the victim, said that he went to see the rapper last week to collect money he was owed. Instead of paying him, Rhymes hit Hatchett multiple times, punching and kicking him in the face and body. Hatchett was so badly bruised that he was rushed to the hospital thereafter. Rhymes has since been charged with a misdemeanor assault charge. He also faces another assault charge for hitting a fan that spit on his car after a performance at the AmsterJam Music Festival in August of 2006. So Busta has an attitude problem very similar to Naomi’s now? Uh oh, scared of you!

Lou Rawls’ son, Lou Rawls Jr. is suing the son of Motown legend, Marvin Gaye on claims that “four large dogs” attacked him during a visit to Gaye’s residence in 2005. According to the Associated Press, the complaint that Rawls Jr. made was filed last week in Los Angeles Supreme Court. In this statement, he described being, bitten, clawed and “physically and mentally injured” which caused him to suffer “loss of blood, tearing of flesh and fear of disease.” Rawls Jr. is seeking unspecified damages. I’m trying to understand why this man is issuing a statement now if this incident supposedly occurred in 2005. Uhhhhh it’s 2007???

It seems as if 50 Cent is on a new leaf for 2007! He is putting out a series of books aimed to inspire young kids to want to read, “I went to my old public school, PS 80 in Queens and the kids were interested…” he says. “ I think I have defects of character like everyone else, but I like to think of myself as inspiring.” The books, titled “The Ski Mask Way,” “Death before Dishonor,” and “Baby Brother” all outline his life style while growing up in the streets of Jamaica Queens. “The novels are the harsh realities in certain situations. And the actual honest content in the music and the books are a spinoff of that reality,” says 50 Cent. Looks like this may be a good move for 50, for a chance he’s doing something positive with his fame. Keep up the good work!
