What’s up people?! It’s your girl Miss Hinds here to fill you in on what’s been happening for the past week in hip-hop news.
G-Unit artist Young Buck was arrested on Friday, January 26th, in his hometown of Nashville, TN. He was in his hometown to attend a fashion event for hip-hop designer Gino Green and to promote his new album, “Buck The World.” Police pulled Young Buck over near downtown Nashville and after checking his now valid license, they found an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous driving violation. He was arrested and later released on a $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 27th.

In quickie news, R&B singer Maria Carey covers the March 2007 issue of playboy, which should be on sale February 9th. Sorry fellas, she isn’t naked in any of her pictures.

R&B singer Brandy Norwood is being sued for $50 million for the accident that resulted in the death of Awatef Aboudihaj. The parents of the deceased filed a suit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, Jan. 30th, after the California Highway Patrol found that Brandy was at fault for the accident. It was also at their recommendation that Brandy be dually charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. After a thorough investigation of the accident, police confirmed that Brandy was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of accident. “The accident was a terrible tragedy and Brandy’s heart goes
out to Awatef Aboudihaj’s family. But for legal reasons we cannot comment on this lawsuit,” stated Brandy’s spokesperson. What a tragedy, but it’s even more shameful that this family is attempting to sue Brandy for that kind of cash. I’m sure if it were someone else, the situation would have been a bit different.

UPDATE!!! The attorney representing the girlfriend of singer / actor Tyrese Gibson has issued a statement to TMZ in response to the alleged altercation that took place last week. The statement read:
“Reports that Tyrese punched my client-his girlfriend- in the arm, thigh or anywhere else are false. It is true, Mr. Gibson and his girlfriend had been arguing. She became very emotional and distressed during the argument and called 911 in an attempt to get a mediator. Mr. Gibson, frustrated, left the home. My client, Mr. Gibson’s girlfriend, who is 11 months pregnant, then became more upset and began throwing up. When the paramedics
arrived, concerned about the baby, they took her to the hospital. Fortunately she was fine. Once at the hospital, she was asked by a nurse if she had been assaulted. She said no….She then discharged herself. Mr. Gibson and his girlfriend are very much still in love, together and excited about their expectant child. She is quite saddened that this event was so distorted.” Police are still interested in gathering a statement from Tyrese and no charges have been filed. I’m still trying to understand why he hasn’t made a statement as yet. What exactly is it that he’s waiting for?
