Week of: 2/20-2/23
Written By: Natalie Hinds

Ya gurl is back with another edition of the Inside Scoop on what’s what in Hip-Hop. This week’s rundown is filled with a variety of updates from past reports, so lets get right into it.

UPDATE!!! R&B singer, Toni Braxton settles with her ex-manager! She has been released from her $375,000 contract, which was the amount of her advance from Blackground Records. According to the agreement, she is free to pursue new labels and projects. The backlash is that she will be responsible for paying Hankerson royalties from her next album. Ouch! “My freedom from Barry Hankerson is priceless and means everything to me,” said Braxton in a statement. Hopefully she finds a label well suited for her ideas and projects. Good luck Toni!

UPDATE!!! Beanie Sigel’s probation has been extended after the rapper underwent questioning in federal court about a positive drug test and association with convicted felons. He was previously sentenced in October 2004 to 12 months and a day, plus 2-years of supervised release, on gung and drug charges. In response to the positive drug test, Sigel explained that his doctor had given him a legitimate prescription three days before a scheduled drug test; he provided the judge with a copy of the prescription and a letter signed by his physician. Whew!! That was a close call huh Beanie?

EXCLUSIVE!!!
Nick Cannon is a married man ladies and gentlemen! As of Vegas’s All-Star weekend, he and Victoria’s Secret model Selita Ebanks tied the knot. According to friends of the rapper / actor / comedian, the couple is planning to host a reception party in L.A. this weekend! Wow! It didn’t take him anytime to get over Ms. Kardashain huh? I guess that sex tape threw him over the edge!

UPDATE!!! Busta Rhymes has rejected an offer of six months in jail on the two assault charges that he accumulated. The six months sentence also include orders of protection for the victims in both cases. He is however, considering the judge’s deal that would allow him to plead guilty to a lesser third-degree assault charge and remain free. These charges stem from two separate incidents. The first incident involved Rhymes assaulting a fan at the AmsterJam Festival in Aug. 2006 and the other where he fought and beat his former driver, Edward Hatchett. If Rhymes accepts the second deal, his charges would be dismissed in six months. Tisk, tisk, tisk, you gotta learn how to control that temper Busta! We don’t want you going down the Incredible Foxy’s path!

EXCLUSIVE!! G-Unit’s 40 Glocc was involved in a gang brawl in Vegas during All-Star weekend! “Niggas’ wanted a problem, so we mashed them out,”. I’ma real one wit this…I don’t wear rags for videos and fashion. Gangbangin is not fashion!” After shots were exchanged on the scene, one man was left with a gunshot to the hip. He declined to press charges and police are not following up on the incident. Las Vegas police say they arrested 362 people since the start of the NBA festivities and 209 of them were from out of town. Tisk, tisk, tisk, black people! Why is it that we can’t have an event without shots ringing??
