Week of: 3/5-3/9

Ya gurl is back with another edition of the Inside Scoop on what’s what in Hip-Hop. This week’s rundown is filled with a variety of updates from past reports, so lets get right into it.

SHAQ DEEZY IS GOING PRIME TIME. According to Variety, The king-sized phenom is in production on a six-episode reality weight-loss skein for ABC that is scheduled to air this summer. The show focuses on the Miami Heat center embarking on a campaign to help Florida elementary and junior high school kids lose weight. Over the course of the show's run, O'Neal will interact with the kids as he encourages them to stay on their regimen. Series will follow the lives of the children as well as of O'Neal himself, who in episodes that have not yet been shot will lobby politicians on school nutrition and other issues. "Shaq is upset about this issue and he's going to do whatever it takes to set this cause right," Coelen said. O'Neal has made childhood obesity a pet cause, starting a social-awareness program about the issue in south Florida. "Many of our kids are living in dangerous conditions," he said. "I felt that I had to get involved."

TIMBALAND WANTS TO BRING BRITNEY SPEARS TO HIS CAMP. Check out these quotes from a recent Timbaland interview with Entertainment Weekly about Britney Spears. "I'm the type of person who tries to save the world. I just want to take her away, go overseas, and work (it) out." "I asked Justin, 'How would you feel about me working with Britney?' I had to ask him that," Timbaland is quoted as saying. "I said, 'Would you do it with me?'" The 26-year-old "SexyBack" singer said he would, according to Timbaland, who notes: "She's just gotta be serious." "I just want to hold her hand," Timbaland says. "I want her to be in my camp, to be around Justin. I need Justin to talk to her. Help her, please!"

THE GLOVED ONE DOESN'T SELL OUT? Promoters said tickets were still available for Michael Jackson's two exclusive fan events in Tokyo this week, where fans and supporters will get a chance to mingle with the Gloved One. The Examiner reports that screaming fans greeted the King of pop when he arrived Sunday for his second visit to Japan in recent years. But tickets for a VIP party and a fan art contest were still available Tuesday, perhaps a reflection of the high price demanded for a brush with fame. Organizers declined to say how many tickets had been sold or how many were left. Guests paying $3,500 to attend Thursday's VIP party will get to mingle with Jackson and spend up to one minute of exclusive face time with him, according to organizers. Shummmmmonnn!
