INDUSTRY INSIDER-
The Inside Scoop on this week in Hip Hop.

Week of 9/11-9/15

Written By: Natalie Hinds

There have been many transitions going on in the hip-hop world, but that isn’t anything new now is it??

Aren’t you tired of hearing about 50 Cent??
I sure am. Apparently he was arrested on 35th Street after being pulled over for a traffic violation. He was charged with a section 509, in other words driving without a license or on a suspended license. An on-looker told Radar Online that 50 was “being an a$$hole.” After the cops pulled the rap mogul over in his chrome-finished Lambourghini Murcielago, he refused to give up his license and was quoted saying, “ ‘You know who I am. I know you know who I am.’” In response to his cocky disposition, the men who serve to protect, handcuffed Mr. Jackson and escorted him to their mansion. What’s next on his list? A remixed diss track aimed toward the NYPD titiled, “Lock’d Up and I’m gonna get out?”

Speaking of moguls,
rumor has it that Mr. Sean Carter the infamous Jay-Z, has come out of retirement to drop yet another LP due out in November.

Confirmation of this rumor came after a cover story interview between Jigga and Entertainment Weekly. The album, supposedly titled "Kingdom Come" will feature tracks produced by Timbaland, Kanye West, Just Blaze and Dr. Dre amongst others. The first single is reportedly called "Show Me What You Got." Hype Williams has already said in interviews he's directing the song's video. Mr. Carter is scheduled to go on a promotional tour that covers regions from Europe to Asia and down to Africa. Not to mention that he is currently working a documentary called the “Diary of Jay-Z: Water of Life,” scheduled to be aired on MTV on November 24th. The ball never stops rolling for S.Carter. Now why did he propose a flaky retirement in the first place?? Someone tell me please!

Seems like all the hip-hop moguls are in the spotlight this week. In other news: founder of the Ultimate Hustler, Damon Dash is due in court on the 28th of this month to fight for custody of his 14-year old son, Damon Jr. Although never married, he and girlfriend Linda Williams are enduring a nasty battle in which a few allegations of physical abuse are being brought up, along with a few temporary orders of protection. May the best man win that battle!

_____

Another big name in "hip-hop bites the dust"! Sean “P.Diddy” Combs can no longer be referred to as “Diddy” in the UK. Apparently UK music producer, Richard “Diddy” Dearlove, has been using that nickname since 1992. He and Sean came to an agreement where Mr. Combs agreed to pay more than $205,244.80 (? 110,00 UK) to settle this matter our of court. Looks like he has your publishing right Mr. Sean “P.Diddy” “Diddy” “Puff Daddy” Combs!
______

Looks like R. Kelly will finally face the music!

Mr. R&B Thug himself begins his trial on October 13th for his indictment charges on child pornography. And listen to this, he has been rumored to be working on a new album titled, “Making Babies” which is due out sometime later this year or early 2007. If convicted, Mr. Kelly won’t be making anyone’s babies for a long time.
_______

It's Official; Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown are finally LEGALLY separated! Though the couple has been together for a whopping 14 years, Whitney allegedly plans to officially file for divorce in October. It’s about time already! Hopefully Whitney’s newfound freedom will allow her to regain her thoughts, and transform back to the old Whitney Houston we used to love from Waiting to Exhale.

So now that Whitney is taking steps away from cocaine,

Keisha Knight Pulliam, also known as Rudy from the Cosby Show has been exposed with a cocaine habit that goes back a few years. Sources state that she used this drug to decrease her weight size as well as to enjoy the feeling of being “high.”

It all started when she attended Spelman College, she ran an elite circle of girls who experimented with cocaine while in college. She hasn’t stopped using the drug since. Apparently she’s been covering it up…well at least for this long.

And that sums up this week’s Weekly Recap. Be sure to check back with RapIndustry.com next week to read what juicy stories I have for you next!

I’m out! Miss Hinds, Holla!
