YOUNG TWINN- " The Present"

Yesterday is history… Today is a gift; that’s why they call it, “the present.” And tomorrow… well tomorrow is what the current regime in Rap music isn’t too welcoming of. You tell me; when was the last time that you’ve watched a veteran pass the torch to his successor without a fight? It’s never going to happen; not in sports and definitely not in Rap Music, where the average age of the upper-echelon emcees sits on 33.

The year is 2006; in the eyes of Undertaker Entertainment, it’s not about being “the future” anymore. The truth is - you can’t place a time frame or boundaries on “the future.” So being as such is uncivilized. The young man that is about to change the complexion of how Rap music is received is so excited about what’s ahead of him, he’s become an insomniac. He is tomorrow; but for all extensive purposes, you can call him Young Twinn.

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; with Houston, Texas as his stomping grounds; and Miami as his second home, Young Twinn is the embodiment of the South in every sense of the word. His southern drawl is noticeable yet clear in interpretation. His presence has already established himself with young ladies across the globe (thanks to Myspace: myspace.com/artistyoungtwinn) as a heartthrob in the making. And the diligence and professionalism that the 19 year old lyrical technician exudes in the recording studio and on stage is proof that his soul has inhabited this earth before.

Young Twinn has already notched a wide range of performances throughout the Southern region of the country; not too mention clocking BDS spins, XM Radio airplay and spins on Music Choice for his first official single, “Getcha Cake Up,” less than a month into taking his career above the Minors into a Major league.

Speaking of his first official single, Twinn had the opportunity of logging in studio-time with the highly decorated producer Jim Jonsin (Rebel Rock Productions, exclusive producer for Atlantic Records), the last weekend of April 2006 in Miami. Jim’s colleagues know of the successful producer as not being easily impressed or enthused during his studio sessions. But once Twinn had the lyrics for Getcha Cake Up, written and recorded in less than 45 minutes, Jim was impressed. He was so impressed that he wouldn’t allow for “Tomorrow” to leave the studio without creating another sparkler. Thirty minutes later, Twinn and Xavier “XL” Lewis penned and recorded, “HoodFly”… an instant work of art with his female fan base.

The “Miskeen Dream” is already making it happen like the majors should be. Akademiks has stepped up and supplied him wardrobe for his most recent photo shoot in the M. I. A. with Miskeen Originals soon to follow.
“Man, I’m just trying to make a better tomorrow for not only my family, but for my community,” Young Twinn expresses whole heartedly. “I just want for everybody to know that Tomorrow is Coming. Don’t get it twisted; this is not a campaign. If you’re young and bettering yourself through schooling, training, community service, etc. you’re Tomorrow right along with me. Let’s just get out here and make believers out the generations before us, which have already given up on us.”

What does the word, “Hustler” mean to you?
Young Twinn: I believe that the word, “hustler” is a term of recognition. Everyday I think about where I want to be and the things I would love to own. Recognize it and go for it no matter the outcome. To me, it’s not the kind of hustle you’re into, but it’s how you hustle. Whether you’re a Kingpin, a Street Homie, or an exotic dancer, your getting what I call, “Sonic Money”; fast and easy. As a hustler, I never look at how much I made or what I did to make that cash. With this mind frame, I can’t lose.

Name an artist that you’d love to do a collaboration with, and why?
Young Twinn: Man, I would have to choose T. I. I respect his energy on wax. His songs are easy to catch onto, and his charisma is very unique to himself. We share common similarities.

If you had the opportunity of choosing one producer to captain your entire album, who would that producer be, and why?
Young Twinn: I would say Dr. Dre. As a producer and artist, Dre is amazing. Dr. Dre is the standard. In the end, if my career only adds up to be half as success as Dr. Dre’s career, I’ll be satisfied.

Why do you feel that you have what it takes, to make it to the top of the Rap game?
Young Twinn: It’s simple, man. I’m for Hip Hop; not the game. I’m too eager to win. I’ve been praised on many occasions for my versatility, and in an industry such as Urban Music, your talent and your character is all you have. Right now, I’m not a major artist. But I treat my fan base like a major artist should. I perform like a major artist should. My business is handled, like business should be handled. I’m not trying to fill a void in Rap Music.
